Benchmark 2.0 Low NOx Boiler

To minimize emissions while maximizing fuel efficiency, AERCO has packaged its 2 million BTU/Hr. Benchmark Boiler with a Low NOx burner and fuel delivery system that ensures emissions consistently measure <30 ppm of NOx corrected to 3% excess oxygen at all firing rates. Certified by the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) in its class, the 20:1 modulating boiler also maintains AERCO equipment standards for energy efficiency, longevity, reliability and construction quality. <15 ppm NOx Capabilities

As an alternative to the standard Benchmark product configuration, the BMK 2.0LN can be a viable alternative in installations where low gas pressure is a design challenge. The unit requires just 5.3" W.C. gas pressure at full input and can be derated to 1,750,000 input where 4" W.C. is the maximum available gas pressure.

20:1 Modulation Delivers Up to 99+% Efficiency
The full and part-load operating efficiency of the BMK2.0LN boiler has been confirmed by an independent third party. As a condensing boiler, the BMK 2.0LN maximzes operating efficiency when applied in a system that leverages cold return water temperatures. As pictured in the curves below, the colder the incoming water temperature, the greater the boiler's thermal efficiency.

Importantly, the BMK2.0LN shares the same type of inverse efficiency profile as its Benchmark counterpart. In simple terms, the lower the boiler's firing rate, the greater its operating efficiency. At its lowest firing rates (or BTU/hr. inputs), the BMK2.0LN heat exchanger becomes greatly oversized in proportion to the load, allowing much greater thermal transfer to take place -- up to 99+%. This means that the Benchmark 2.0 LN saves the most energy during part load operations that characterize the majority of the heating season. With its ability to perfectly match load anywhere between 2 million and 100,000 BTU/hr., the Benchmark 2.0 Low NOx boiler will be operating at its greatest efficencies when less robust equipment has started to cycle on and off repeatedly.

A Unique Engineering Approach
Unmatched 20:1 turndown doesn't happen by accident. The unique design of AERCO's burner and fuel delivery system supports stable combustion and strict emissions control over an operating range of 100,000 to 2 million BTU/hr. The design employs a supply gas regulator (which is integrated into the safety-shut-off-valve) and AERCO's patented Air/Fuel Valve to ensure that the perfect ratio of air-to-gas needed to meet the real-time load is always delivered to the low NOx burner. A proprietary venturi mixer pulls the gas in at a low pressure and then fully blends it with the combustion air before it enters the low NOx burner. In addition to supporting 20:1 turndown with low NOx emissions, this fiber mesh burner design maintains a relatively cool burner surface to ensure its long life. Importantly, the design also employs a thermostatic damper to allow sealed combustion in all climates. In fact, no combustion air recalibration is necessary where air temperatures remain within a 150 degree Fahrenheit range.

<15 ppm NOx Capabilities
The ability to operate at <30ppm NOx emissions satisfies regulatory requirements in most areas. However, some local communities or building projects set even higher environmental standards.

As pictured above, the BMK2.0LN boiler can easily deliver lower NOx profiles by simply adjusting the unit's combustion calibration points. The ability to operate the BMK2.0LN at <15 ppm has value in areas where emissions codes may be subject to change, however, the boiler's input rate, performance efficiency and venting requirements will change in such applications.
