Coating Systems, Inc. in Lowell, MA, is a high-tech metal finishing company, specializing in coating mechanical components for the electronics industry. During the finishing process, metal pieces are submerged in water-based solutions maintained at 100° - 195° to clean and prepare the surfaces, as well as electrolytically apply the coatings. By the spring of 1995, Coating Systems, Inc. needed to augment its capacity to keep up with demand. They decided on a 4,000 square foot addition which would house large industrial vats and heat exchangers. This required installing a new boiler to meet the additional hot water demand.

Arthur Sacco, President of Coating Systems, Inc. was prepared to install another atmospheric-type boiler, until an AERCO Boiler was recommended to him. "I thought I had to use a steam boiler because it kept the water as hot as it could be," said Sacco. "But I learned that you don't need to worry about that with the AERCO Boilers, because they are more efficient especially at the lower temperatures." Lower system temperatures in the AERCO units ensure that the AERCO Boilers will always be condensing, thus running at peak efficiency.
