AERCO Introduces New Electronic Controls Package for Indirect-Fired Heaters

Supports DHW Integration with Building Automation Systems
Northvale, NJ (December 1, 2005) - AERCO now offers an electronic actuator and controller as a standard configuration for all the company’s steam-to-water and water-to-water heaters. For facilities seeking LEEDs accreditation points and those that have taken a building-wide approach to energy efficiency, the new package is fully compatible with Building Automation Software (BAS) or Energy Management Software (EMS) systems via Modbus Open Protocol.
Faster and more accurate than pneumatic or mechanical solutions, the electronic controls package delivers exceptionally tight temperature control, even when load changes exceed 50% of total heater capacity. It maintains ±2°F temperature control under constant load conditions and delivers ±4°F temperature control under normal load changes.
The secret to such outstanding performance is the AERCO valve. The company’s patented design employs a pilot assembly, balanced lower piston design, equal percentage flow plug, and soft seat for fast and accurate response. “Despite its 1% to 100% range, it takes less than seven seconds for a 1”-2” valve to reach full-open, full-close or fail-safe shutdown position. It also takes just nine seconds for full actuation of a 2˝”-4” valve,” said Mark Croce, product manager at AERCO.
For easy start-up and operations, users can just dial-in set points on the digital controller. Using an optional add-in board which supports Modbus communications, customers can also remotely monitor and/or control the heater via an RS-232 or RS-485 connection to check set point, alarm settings, flow (GPM), outlet temperature and other operating parameters.
