Northvale, NJ (June 2003) — AERCO International, Inc., a leading supplier of commercial boilers and water heating products, introduces a new low NOx (Nitrogen oxide) burner for use with its successful KC1000 high-efficiency, gas-fired boilers and water heaters. With the new low NOx burner, the KC1000 models produce <30 ppm of NOx corrected to 3% of excess air, making the boilers and water heaters well suited for installations with stringent environmental and emission requirements.

The new low NOx burner has been certified by The South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) as compliant with Rule 1146.2 for boilers and water heaters < 3MBTUs. The burner was also certified as compliant with Rule 117.465 by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. It achieves such performance because it is designed with a sophisticated gas plate that ensures the proper levels of water and Oxygen at all times. With the new fully modulating burner, the KC1000 models maintain low NOx emissions over the entire 14:1 operating range of the boiler and water heater. In addition to being available in new KC1000 models, AERCO can retrofit the low NOx burner into installed KC1000 models to improve their environmental performance.

Low NOx boilers and water heaters are becoming more prevalent in the south and west, especially in urban areas where atmospheric transformation of NOx can lead to the formation of ozone and nitrogen-bearing particles, both of which are associated with adverse health effects. Nitrogen oxides also contribute to a wide range of environmental effects, including acid rain, potential changes in the composition and competition of some species of vegetation in wetland and terrestrial systems, visibility impairment, acidification of freshwater bodies, eutrophication of estuarine and coastal waters, and increased levels of toxins harmful to fish and other aquatic life.

AERCO’s natural gas- and propane-fired KC1000 boilers and water heaters are energy efficient, quiet and cost effective to operate in commercial and industrial environments. A unique condensing design eliminates secondary piping and the KC1000's 14:1 modulation supports +/-2°F temperature control to achieve 95% seasonal efficiency in the boiler and +/-4°F temperature control to achieve 93% to 99% efficiency in the water heater. Each one million BTU unit occupies a 78"H x 22"W x 57"D footprint with flexible venting.

Both the KC1000 boiler and water heater feature easy-to-use, advanced control software that integrates with EMS systems and can be accessed remotely. The performance of the KC1000 boiler and water heater makes them ideal solutions for load sharing or combination domestic water/boiler plant configurations.
